I’m what?!?!

I should be bummed (and a small, frustrated part of me is bummed) because an editor that I’d done a revision for on one of my suspense novels turned it down…again. Yup, the same guy has now rejected me twice on the same project. Yikes!

BUT I’m not really feeling too depressed…I’m sort of…excited. Yes, I’m definitely excited.

Said editor (who I’m pretty sure has got to be one of the nicest guys in publishing and totally ”gets” my project) wrote a LONG and DETAILED letter about what is still not working for him in the novel. It’s just SO damn helpful that I’m now dying to dive into a rewrite using his suggestions. I’m EXCITED about it.

Of course I’m also really pleased with how my urban fantasy is coming along and I don’t want to lose momentum on that either.

Unfortunately this week is chock full of commitments that will eat up my time/energy. Still, I am so freakin’ excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m wild about LIFE

Specifically LIFE the tv series which returns to the air September 29th on NBC after a ridiculously long break (because of the writer’s strike).

I LOVED the first season of this show (which usually means a series gets cancelled) about a cop who returns to the force after spending a dozen years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. 

This is MY “must see” tv. Damian Lewis gives an outstanding performance each episode, while Sarah Shahi and Adam Arkin hold their own against the Zen master.

What show are you most looking forward to this season?

I’ve been humming a tune from Oliver for the past couple of days. The one that goes:

Food, glorious food!

Except in my head (okay I DID sing it out loud a few times) I’m hearing:

The UPS guy did it

Driving along today I watched a UPS delivery guy make a mad dash to his truck, a pile of boxes clutched to his chest. He bounded into the vehicle, and it looked like that Big Brown truck was rolling before his butt would have had the chance to touch the seat.

My immediate reaction? If I wanted to steal something from an office I’d totally do it dressed up as a delivery person — no one looks twice when they go hurrying through carrying something.

Cupcakes or Pie?

but while cupcakes are cute and adorable (which I’m pretty sure describes Kate too) and all the rage at the moment, they’re not my thing.

I’m into pie.  I eat a piece of pie once a week, and I’m sad to say it’s often the high point of my week. Currently I’ve got an addiction to the cherry crumb (the perfect balance of tart and sweet) sold by a local pie shop. Soon though, I’ll be indulging in my passion for pumpkin, and I know that when I go to visit my folks in December I’ll have my annual slice of coconut custard. I’d love to have some good Key Lime Pie, but those are very difficult to find (most are too sweet).

What’s your dessert of choice?

A pricey condom

Saw the following question posted on financial advice website: “I would like to buy a small condom in my town, but i have only 10.000.00 to start, do you think it is enough to buy now or wait to save more money ?”

That’s one expensive condom….can’t imagine what a large one must cost.

Where art thou Coffee Cup?

Some people lose their keys, others misplace their eyeglasses. Me? I lose my coffee cup. I put my keys in the same place 90% of the time, so they’re not a problem to track down. Since I’m unable to see my bedside clock without my specs, I don’t get out of bed without putting on my glasses, so I never lose them (except when I move them when I’m sleepwalking, which is a whole other problem).

But I lose my coffee cup multiple times a day.

Our condo is small enough that I can vacuum the entire place by plugging in the damn thing only twice (if you knew how much I hated lugging the Hoover up and down the stairs in our old house you’d understand that this is a gigantic treat for me) but it can take me 15 minutes to find my coffee cup.

I take it with me when I’m going to get dressed. I have it with me when I talk on the phone. I might need a sip to get through my dvd workout (not that I’m an addict or anything). I drink it while I fold laundry. I carry it while I pace (I pace A LOT while I write, which is why I need the damn vacuum).  I put the cup down anywhere and everywhere and then I wander around trying to find it.

What do you lose on a regular basis? (and no, you can’t tell me your mind)
