Gas for Jesus

People ask me all the time where I get my ideas. My latest answer is “junk mail”.

Yes, junk mail. Just last week we rec’d a postcard offering a twenty dollar gift card to a local gas station…if we went to services at a certain local church.

 I couldn’t make this stuff up…

Where do you get your ideas?

  1. When I’m feeling saucy, I tell people I get my ideas from ideaRus.com. In reality, I get most of my ideas while I’m working out. Or in the shower.

But the real question here is whether you’re going to the services. With gas prices what they are (the station in our neighborhood is offering a gallon for $4.17) I’d be tempted. 😉

  2. Usually a vision appears in my head, a still. It gives me an impression, a feeling. If it resonates strongly enough, I will follow it like crumbs into a forest. The visceral feeling I had from the start never changes, though that is about the only thing.

Ideas can happen anywhere, at anytime. Usually while doing mundane tasks. Though I rarely come up with brand-new ideas in my sleep. My dreams tend to only inform my work in progress, and very rarely at that.

If I don’t immediately write down the idea, it tends to disappear for a while, if not forever.

Wow. I could never walk into a church, look a holy man in the eye, and say, “I’m, um, here for the gas.”

  3. Kate — I get tons of ideas in the shower too, damn inconvenient. I’d rather buy a club membership in ideasRus though…

  4. Cyndi — love the idea of following the breadcrumbs into the forest (except I’m directionally challenged and would never find my way back out!)

  5. Oh…I forgot…the gas

No, I’m not going. Not for 20 bucks worth. Now, if they offered a full tank fill-up, I might consider it….
