Best gift ever (at least this year)

Kate Perry has a list of stuff she doesn’t want for Christmas on her blog http://www.kateperry.com/blog this week. which made me want to blog about the great gift Long Suffering got for me.

I got home from my trip last week and what to my wondering eyes should appear (no, not a sleigh full of toys and 8 tiny reindeer) but a light-up musical keyboard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having never had the opportunity to take music lessons (flutophone in second grade does not count) as a kid, I’m always wishing (aloud) that I could play an instrument. (Long Suffering on the other hand is an AWESOME violin player.)

Right now I’m trying to master Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.
I’m a S-L-O-W learner. Yesterday I was finally able to play the first phrase with both hands.

It’s the best gift for a couple of reasons:

1) I’m loving it
2) It was super-thoughtful and totally unexpected
3) Have I mentioned I’m loving it?

  1. Gosh, I’d have to say the best gift I’ve received this year is that my mother in law is going to get my bathroom re-wallpapered! Right now, it’s a hideous floral wallpaper that is like a garden threw up in there, lol. Not all floral wallpaper is bad, obviously, but this one is!

  2. This year, the best one had to be the giant decorative oriental fan from my parents. Its HUGE. And beautiful!!!! I just wish it weren’t such an antique so I could swing it around a bit and feel cool =P

  3. Oh, and I’ve been meaning to learn piano for soooo long. But I lack the time and the lesson books. The farthest I got was I learned the first page of ‘My Immortal’ by Evanescence… purely by memorizing which keys went in which order, rather than sight-reading, which I used to be able to do back when I played the viola. Though my interest is now changing – I find myself drawn to the dulcimer. Now if only I could find one….

  4. No, don’t collect… Just think they look cool =) (Though I do have three decorative ones now….. So maybe I do?) This is a monster, though – Folded, its longer than my arm – and I’ve always loved those ones. Never felt wild enough to buy one though (I’m chea-… er… /thrifty/.)
