What “Watch out” means

So this is what I was pondering when I almost ruined Long Suffering’s prized collection this morning.

When taking the vacuum out of the closet I told the dog, “Watch out” by which I meant “Get the hell out of the way” but which he seemed to take as, “Run for your life!”

  1. Aren’t dogs supposed to run for their lives when the vaccuum comes out? I know mine does. I’ve actually seem him leap over furniture to avoid it.

  2. I can’t remember our dog ever having a massive problem with it… Granted, I also can’t remember seeing him /around/ when I vaccuumed, but that could just be me being unobservant. I know he didn’t run for his life when it came out.

Now thunderstorms he did not do well in. His favourite hiding spot was the bathtub for some reason…

  3. My dog loses his mind during thunderstorms. It would almost be funny except I can’t move two steps without him being under my feet, panting and whining.
