Writing Can Be Murder

I curse. A lot.
Always have. (although my parents very, very, very rarely swear)
Always will. (DH swears so infrequently that when he does let loose a 4 letter word, I tend to giggle)
I swear aloud (depending on the company I’m in, I DO make an effort to censor myself — I usually fail)
I curse non-stop in my thoughts.
And I curse on the page. A lot.
Recently someone told me they didn’t like that I used a certain profanity on the first page of my book.

Maybe that’s why I found this post by Marshall Karp to be particularly interesting:

  1. I curse a lot too. I try to keep it to a minimum in my writing – I think a well placed f-bomb can have impact, but too many becomes desensitizing. In real life cursing is necessary to avoid becoming a serial killer.
