Writing Can Be Murder

The synopsis that’s missing something

I’ve just about finished writing the synopsis for my next novel. It’ll be interesting to see how much of the synopsis ends up in the book. (I tend to be more “pantser” than “plotter”.)

Allison Brennan has an interesting post up at Murder She Writes about just that subject: http://www.murdershewrites.com/

I said “I’ve just about finished” because while I’ve covered all the major plot points, I’m missing names. If you could see the handwritten mess (and it you could ignore all the extraneous details I scribbled in the margin that belong in the book, not the synopsis) you’d see that all the characters are identified by letters, not names.

Why? Because with the exception of my villain (and characters who’ve appeared/been mentioned in the last book) I can’t decide on names for any of them. It’s so frustrating to know who a character is but not his/her name.
