Writing Can Be Murder

Obsessed

My insomnia has kicked in ((sigh)). My diet is right. I’m curtailing my caffeine (no really, I am!) and I’m getting plenty of exercise. I know exactly what caused this current bout of sleeplessness.

My insomnia reared its ugly head the moment I started working on this manuscript again.

I’m obsessed with it — which is good, because I’ve got to believe that this intensity will result in a superior work, and it’s bad, because I need sleep. Desperately.

Last night I got out of bed (because that’s what they say you should do) and tried some meditation, but I couldn’t focus because my thoughts kept drifting (drifting is too gentle a word) my thoughts kept getting YANKED back to this story. It’s all I can think about. Aaaahhhh!

  1. Such a wonderfully exhilarating, yet ultimately exhausting phase for a writer! Whenever it happens to me,I just give up on trying to sleep and spend the time letting the story out, rather than tossing and turning.

  2. Might as well write while you’re up. Once you finish your first draft, you’ll sleep for a week.
