Reading and Watching Wednesday 2-24-10

I’ve pretty much given up on reading fiction. Why? Because I need to finish my own book and I just can’t commit to another world at the moment…well that and the fact I was disappointed in the last few novels I read…

I did finish both non-fiction books I mentioned last week…and each, in their own way was excellent. Now I’m re-reading Hallie Ephron’s book WRITING AND SELLING YOUR MYSTERY NOVEL. (If you can get past the title, it’s not bad.)

I finally saw AVATAR.

I am the only person on the planet who didn’t like it.

I hated the 3D effects…they made me feel as though I was being assaulted (tho to be fair, I can’t watch anything on an IMAX screen without wanting to throw up) and the story was…oh c’mon you know what the story was or wasn’t. LONG SUFFERING on the other hand loved the movie. He’s making plans to go to see it again on an IMAX…without me.

  1. I’m with you on not reading fiction. I haven’t read a really good book in a while. Right now I’m into ‘The Healing Powers of Chocolate’ believe it or not, LOL, and anything that disparages the pharmaceutical industry in a big way.

I loved Avatar, but aqua blue has always been one of my favorite colors. I can’t handle IMAX either, though.

  2. The Healing Power of Chocolate would probably make a good smelly-vision movie…
