“Spring is here! La Cucaracha has arrived!”

This was my joyful shout a few moments ago (and yes, I actually accompanied it with a fist pump) — fortunately (or sadly, depending on one’s perspective) Long Suffering actually understood what I meant.

Who cares if there’s still six inches of snow on the ground? It doesn’t matter that according to the calendar the first day of Spring is the 20th.

Today I heard the melodic tones of La Cucaracha! I looked out the window, squinting against the glare bouncing off the snow, and what to my wondering eyes should appear???? The ice cream truck!

Some people think a Ground Hog can signal the end of winter…I’m thinkin’ it’s the ice cream lady.

  1. Aw, the ice cream truck! I don’t hear those sounds in Seattle but I hear them here in Toronto. It plays “It’s a small world after all.” Spring is here indeed.

  2. Oh dear god, “It’s a small world” is infinitely more annoying than “la cucharacha” in my book!
