Incremental progress

So I did a 5k today (it was cold, rainy, and windy…oh my!). As always I finished almost last (which means I’m not officially the slowest person out there, just damn close) and for once I was kinda depressed about it.
(Probably because I did it with M, who could have finished much sooner if she hadn’t waited for me>)

But then I looked at my finishing time. Which was horrible. Then I looked at my finishing for when I did the same course for the Turkey Trot in November…and I found out that I beat that time by one minute and fifty seconds….so then I looked up the only other 5k I’ve ever done and I was almost five minutes better than that.

So while I’m incredibly slow, I’m getting faster. Incremental progress.

I think this applies to the rest of my life too.

  1. You deserve kudos for running at all in this weather. The only thing this weekend was really good for was sleeping.

  2. You should be proud with how much time you shaved off. That does not come without work. The clock will always show you the proof. Congrats!
