I was going to take a pic of the disaster zone aka my desk, but the camera battery isn’t charged.
I’m in the zone this week — the writing zone and the disaster zone — they tend to go hand in hand.
So right now on my desk I’ve got:
Computer monitor, mouse and speakers
Large Paper EVIDENCE Bag
3 Legal Pads — I’ve got book ideas that I’m using this week in all of them
Buttercream candle
Fabric pen/pencil case
Cord for ipod
“Shape Up with the Slow Fat Triathlete” by Jayne Williams
Dead Fred pen holder
Splat Stan coaster
Body outline memo pad with a red pen sticking thru the heart
THREE dirty coffee mugs (two from yesterday, one from today)
Barnes and Noble Gift Card
Sisters in Crime Newsletter
Journal
Workout Log
3 purple pens
A roll of Crime Scene Tape
Yes, I’ve managed to bury my desk in assorted crap.
What does your writing area look like?
Right now it’s the kitchen table as, with AW, I need to be in the heart of the house at all times. I have three books on my left, a photo of my son, a half-eaten yogurt, my watch that I just took off, my cell phone. To my right, my journal and water bottle. Across the table a book that a friend with whom we just walked our babies (her granddaughter) gave me about being a poet. Right behind my laptop are 12 jars of baby food that I just bought at Target. I never go to Target because it’s sensory overload, but our supermarket was flooded. A message pad for my husband’s business and a pile of papers that sit until we can figure out what to do with them … basically they just get old enough that we can then throw them away.

“a pile of papers that sit until we can figure out what to do with them … basically they just get old enough that we can then throw them away.” — Sounds like my kind of filing system!

My desk is really messy at the moment. I have my computer (laptop), printer, a notebook filled with revision notes (mine), lip balm, two unpaid bills, my mss in hard copy (bound and coiled courtesy of Kinko’s), a bag of jelly beans, a small sun lamp which is supposed to prevent vitamin D deficiency, my regular lamp, a cordless phone, my digital camera, several ball point pens in various colors, and a bottle of Spot Shot for cleaning cat barf out of the carpet. Exciting! Not.

For once my desk is neat – only because DH put all my papers and junk on the floor next to it so he could install a docking station for my laptop since my desktop computer died. I should take a picture of the floor because that’s really where all my ‘work’ is.

Jennifer — Your papers are on the floor and a cat or two isn’t sleeping on them?
