When life hands you Lamont

take it.

Last week I had to name a new character. Big guy — taller than a fridge and almost as wide. I needed him to make a big impression because I’m pretty sure he only appears in the book twice.

For once I didn’t struggle to name a character. (woo hoo!) His name LAMONT (as in mountain, as in, could not have been more freakin perfect) was on the front page of the weekly paper!

I’d noticed it because it was the weekly “pet for adoption” piece…a ten or twelve pound of fluff that might pass for a dog. “Take Home Lamont” the headline said.

I didn’t adopt the dog, but I did adopt the name.

  2. I know, usually I would have spent forever trying to find a name, but that one found me.
