Justified — Why aren’t you watching it?

I’m not a huge Elmore Leonard fan.

I’m not a lover of all things Southern. (tho I do love a Southerner…you know who you are, Sugar)

But I’ve gotta say that I LOVE the series Justified. With the exception of the next to last episode, I watched the entire season. I’m going to try to explain why I think it’s worth a look without giving anything away.

The actors are well cast and the episodes are entertaining. One of the reasons I enjoy this program so much is that the characters are constantly surprising me with their choices (this goes for both the regulars and the guest stars…I thought Robert Picardo’s “collection” was a master stroke).

Questions about right and wrong, light and dark, good and bad, family and friendship, change and redemption, were deftly juggled all season.

Each episode was good, but at the end of the season finale I found myself awestruck, not by a single shocking moment (though there were some of those) but by the sheer beauty of the full circle that was created.

I loved that the climactic scene in the finale featured the same characters “hero” “villian” and the woman that started the whole mess that was a season once again in a life-and-death situation, much like they’d been in the pilot — so similar and yet SOOO different.

It was f–ing brilliant!!!

  1. My husband watches it and loves it. I haven’t had a chance yet, but you were right about LIFE – loved that show. I’ll have to put Justified on my Netflix list when they put it on DVD.

  2. It’s probably better to watch it from the beginning since there was such a complete arc to the season. Can’t wait to hear what you think about it.

For the record, I don’t love it as much as I loved LIFE, but I did think it was the best I watched this season.

You might also want to check out White Collar — which is my favorite “fun” show (you can tune in any time for that one).
