Reading, Watching, Listening 6-23-10

Read —

Michael Tucker’s (yes, the guy from LA Law) FAMILY MEALS: Coming Together to Care for an Aging Parent — Read it just because he’s so freaking passionate about food.

A random book on running — not good enough to recommend

PEOPLE OF THE BOOK by Geraldine Brooks — Totally out of my usual realm, but I LOVED this novel.

Watched — The Blind Side — Surprised by how much I liked it.

Listening — Okay, this one requires the conversation that occurred last nght:

Long Suffering: You’re listening to Torchwood? It’s so depressing.

Me: You’re the one who downloaded the soundtrack to the mini-series. I bet if we listened to the music from the first season where all they did was have sex with random characters the music would be more cheerful.

What’s been entertaining you?

  1. In the spirit again…love the versitility of your days.

Read: The Passage, (well reading it). Conklin..new author. Really good book, comparing it to a
Steven King like book..The Stand, not a cut em’ up book. Sorry Jen. Can’t read those
Marathon Man -Dean Karnazas- always read this for inspiration. Worlds fittest man, he is NUTS- his memoir, he ran 50 marathons, in 50 days in 50 days! Ran 100 milers ect.
Antother non-fiction, I usually have 2 -3 books going at the same time.
I LOVED LOVED People of Book too- glad you did. So well written & sucked me right in, polished off in a day..

Watched/watching: Soccer, kids are loving it.
Watching : Toy Story 3 tommorow night.

Listening: I am an admitted Lady Gaga fan – great songs to run/walk listen to!
Sadly I can’t get Miley Cyrus out of my head either, freakin Butterfly song.
Barking dogs, barking dogs, barking dogs —its just a lovely sound.

I love all your Pet Peeves & right there too- except to add to motorcyclists , drivers who IN TRAFFIC drive on shoulder. “Hey jerkface”, the traffic is probably due to an accident-the shoulder is NOT for you. EMT & Police need to get by!
Also people who TRY to cut in front of you on line at the grocery store, when they say next in line…I tend to innocently SMASH their carts. Oh & people who leave animals in the car when they shop – oh or a baby! Yes I called 911 at 11:00 one night in store lot, person was in store arguing over a welfare check ( they were drugged out) they did get arrested. So speaking up is a good thing, baby is in good hands, since I knew the officers I get updates, and this was in February!
I get into much trouble in grocery stores I tend to open my mouth ALOT.
People who dot their “i” with hearts…HELLO? we are NOT in grammar school.

  3. Reading: Just finished BLOODSUCKING FIENDS by Christopher Moore — loved it! Have put the next one on my wish list.

Listening: A lot of Lady Gaga this week, too! I’ve been trying to work out more and what can I say, she gets the blood pumping.

Watching: Still hooked on DEADLIEST CATCH (hey I made a pun!). Also rented SHUTTER ISLAND last weekend… found it slow, though it picked up towards the end. I thought it would be scarier.
