Ten Reasons I’m losing my mind 7/5/10

1) Today is my little sister’s birthday. She’s getting old. Logic would dictate that means I’M getting old.

2) Is the $%^&ing World Cup over yet? I am not a futbol fan. It’s bad enough that when I listen to BBC America news every morning of the year that they devote an inordinate amount of time to the game, but now the damn US news won’t shut up about it. (To be fair, I’m not an organized sports kind of gal — I bitch and moan every time a local professional team makes it to whatever their playoffs are and I fervently hope they’ll lose so it can drop out of the news cycle.)

3) Did I mention I’m getting old? I’ve tried to run twice in the past two weeks and each time I ended up in way too much pain afterwards. I’m not talking…”ouch that’s sore”…I’m talking…”oh my god, will I ever be able to walk without a limp again?” pain.

4) It’s hot. Heat wave, record-breaking hot.

5) I’m signed up to do a half marathon in November. I can’t run and it’s too freaking hot out to train safely. I know it’s four months away and eventually it’ll cool off, but I’m anxious to get started.

6) Two novels are competing for space in my brain. This means that I’m not giving either its due.

7) My insomnia has reared its ugly head again.

8 Have I mentioned I SUCK at running? If they give out a trophy for World’s Worst Runner or World’s Least Improved Runner you can be bet I’ll be up on the podium.

9) The only thing that runs slower than me is my computer.

10) I’m about to start requested revisions on a manuscript. The editor’s feedback (both single-spaced pages of it!) is wonderful, but I’m worried I’m not up to the job. Which is what triggered the insomnia…which may be why I’ve been in so much pain after running…welll, that and I’m getting old…

Okay, so that’s why I’m losing my mind this week. Why are you losing yours?

And never fear, next Monday I’ll post about 10 Things That Are Going Right.

  1. Please DO NOT freak over the half 😦 you will be great! I KNOW IT. I have barely started for
the marathon I am doing in 15 weeks (CRAZY). Than that half, a few weeks later. Walk, run, crawl, remember you will never get a DNF. I am at a snails pace, surrounded by friends that are all 8:00 min milers for a marathon. Its your half, its my half & I bet you can rattled off at least 20 people that would not even attempt it.You are racing you and you alone, no matter what the speed. Now I need to practice what I have just preached to you .
I too am ready to KILL someone over “futbol” !! It would be nice if we were proud of our country or wherever our country is all the time……
