What are you afraid of?

Me…I’m terrified of “techie” stuff because I suck at it. (I’m sharing this because I desperately need to perform a makeover on this blog.)

I’m also afraid of:

Heights
Spiders
Geese
Snow and Ice

I’m leery of:

White foods
Petless people
Men wearing bathrobes who get into the elevator with me
People with crappy handshakes

So what are you afraid of?

  1. Hi, Jen! :: waves :: I’m with you on the heights, petless people (more than petless, though, people who don’t like animals at all – I seriously distrust these folks), and bath-robed men in elevators (love this image). I fear unpreparedness – for the future, for a meeting, for anything! Also, the thought of a home invasion sends me spinning, but I imagine that’s a pretty common one. Geese for you? I LOVE geese. We had one who used to come hang out with us at a condo we rented. He was so tame – loved to be petted, but would honk over you if you tried to chat.

  2. I have odd fears.

Mirrors (I don’t look in unfamiliar mirrors, it really bothers me. NEVER look in a public restroom!)
    Ferris Wheels
    Hamsters
    Centipedes

Small bugs don’t bother me, but we lived in Hawaii for a time, where the centipedes are 4-6 inches long. They often invaded our house in wet weather. I awoke one morning with one in my hair. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten over that scare!

e-mail me if you are looking for blog makeover help that isn’t fancy. My uncle does computer stuff and is very reasonable and quick. He’s not deluxe though. I’m having him build my website. Tech stuff is over my head too.

  3. Heights
    Spiders
Ice skating on ponds or lakes
    Driving in thunderstorms
    Losing my internet connection
Things that go bump in the night*

*I write thrillers, but I am the biggest chicken.

  4. Spiders and especially swarms of bugs – I consider more than two bugs to be a swarm, btw.

Balloons [maybe I should put this at the top of the list] I hate them too. I don’t hate spiders I just think they don’t belong any place where I happen to be.

Large fish [or other creatures] in the ocean. I love to swim, but not with anything under the water near me.

Puppets. [not Muppets or cute things, but ventriloquist dummies, marionettes…freaky].

  5. Just to clarify a couple things:

    1) What if a woman in a robe got in the elevator with you? Would it make a difference if her robe was pink and cushy?

    2) I’m petless… Just saying.

    Things I’m scared of:
    Joburg
    strange noises in the night
    average white guys
food products like Cheez Whiz and Spam

PS: geese are minions of the devil.

  6. Joann — I’d never considered a home invasion. Thanks for giving me one more thing to worry about.

Amy — I’m with you on the centipedes. Might steal the mirror thing for a book…

Jenny — ROFL re: I write thrillers, but I am the biggest chicken

    Jennifer — If I have a nightmare about a ventriloquist’s dummy I’m blaming you.

Kate — 1)Is she wearing anything under the robe? (I’m pretty sure he wasn’t…tho I was doing my best to avert my eyes…)

2)See, proves my point. You’re a kung fu master…who wouldn’t be afraid of you?
