ReadingThe 12 Secrets of Highly Creative Women by Gail McMeekin

Watching
— not much at all

Listening — Loving Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri

Writing — Stuff for something exciting that’s happening next week (stay tuned!) and of course, I’m chipping away at my Work in Progress. Favorite line from yesterday’s writing session? “…shooed the muscled bodyguard away as though he was a pesky pigeon.”

Your turn. What’s keeping you entertained this week?

  1. Reading – trying to get through The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It’s taking forever and I’m really frustrated with the book. I won’t be reading the next two.

Watching – Project Runway. So hooked.

Listening – holy crap, I LOVE Jar of Hearts and have been listening to it lately as well.

Writing – new WIP in the final stretch of the shitty first draft stage. Yay!

  2. Go shitty first draft, Joann!

I am reading: The Hobbit. Yes, I’m just starting to read JRR Tolkien. I plan to do the four books. I’m only a few pages in and adore the voice.

Watching: updates on Hurricane Earl. I like to watch weather stuff.

Listening: I’m so behind on knowing anything about music anymore. I hope to listen to more one day. I do listen to my son’s singing toys. I know those songs by heart!

  3. Reading – One Day by David Nicholls, quirky British love story which is by turns compelling and muddy

Watching – Just got Scarecrow and Mrs. King from Netflix, reliving my television youth

Listening – to the whines of my children who will be going back to school in a week!

Writing – should be writing blog posts, 2nd drafts of novellas and first dreafts of new WIPs but I’m not

  4. Reading: Just finished an oldie but goodie, THINNER by Stephen King (Richard Bachman). Not sure what’s next. I bought UNDER THE DOME in paperback last month, but the thing weighs a ton, so I might just might wait till my Kindle arrives (and then I can read someone else’s novel, too!).

Watching: This movie called KARLA. It’s the true story about Karla Homolka and Paul Bernardo, a married couple who killed teenage girls in my hometown in the early ’90s. I knew most of the details already (Bernardo was my real-life bogeyman) from following the news reports in high school, but watching it movie-style was downright awful. Probably shouldn’t have watched it.

Listening: My writing playlist. Current fave: WHERE IS MY MIND by The Pixies.

Writing: Just crossed the 30k mark on the WIP.

  5. Doing nothing but the WRITING: Just crossed the 65K mark, and I plan to finish at just under 70. Final edits are at under 60, since I am doing them during writing breaks. My husband has two 4 day weekends back to back, so he’s doing house and kids while I FINISH this week.

I feel very out of touch. It’s nice to rack up movie suggestions though for when I am finished. My poor babies miss me 😦 “Mama are you still writing on your book? I love you!”

  6. Joann — Isn’t that song just fabulous??? Congrats on closing in on the end of your draft!

Cyndi — Is this your first time reading Tolkien? I can totally understand why it appeals to you. Classic! 😉

Jennifer — OMG I loved The Scarecrow and Mrs. King! I still sing the theme song sometimes when I’m rushing thru cleaning.

Jenny — Oooh, Thinner…don’t know why I always forget about that King book. A good read!

    Amy — Good luck finishing!
